In order to move past the feelings, I believe you have to go through them.  No avoiding, no self-medicating (although I admit I did have a bowl of ice-cream!), no pretending. Feelings give us a message, useful information about ourselves or the situations we are in.

Oh, My Word!

Words are powerful!  They can hurt, or they can bring healing to relationships.  It seems sometimes we use them like arrows when we are fighting, hoping to defend ourselves by throwing words that sting, wound, and eventually damage what we hold most dear.

How often does that attitude play out in other areas of my life?  Staying in my comfort zone may lessen my fear, but also prevents me from seeing the bigger picture, missing opportunities for personal growth and enriching my life.

The Cemetery

I have revisited the cemetery a couple times after the initial discovery.  Each visit brings to mind for me that life here is limited and I need to be purposeful with the way I spend my time. Relationships need to be intentional, and the values I hold as important need to be reflected in the way I live and the choices I make.

Blooming Again

Resiliency is the ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change (Merriam-Webster).  We have probably all met or heard of people with stories of terrible tragedy, having had traumatic experiences, or who grew up without the nurture children need.  And, in spite of those experiences, these individuals are able to somehow overcome and eventually lead satisfying, productive, and purposeful lives.
